Australian Gold
The Royal Australian Mint is one of the most under-appreciated, underrated mints of the world, and is often overshadowed by the Perth Mint of Australia. Australian gold and Australian gold coins, despite being a bit different from the gold from other countries, still has its place in the world gold market. Australian coins vary, like any other coins, but one particular Australian coin of interest to many is the Australian Koalas gold coin. Another is the Australian nugget, which represents an Australian gold bullion coin. Australian gold nuggets are minted in denominations of 1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, ¼ oz, ½ oz, 1 oz, 2 oz, 10 oz, and 1 kg of 24-karat gold. A surprising fact of the gold nuggets is that they are one of the few legal tender bullion coins that change their design every year. The one troy ounce coin has a diameter of 32.10mm, a thickness of 2.65mm, with an official weight of 1.0001 troy ounces and a face value of $100.00. Another Australian bullion coin is the Australian Lunar Gold Bullion Coin, which is also minted by the Perth Mint. But the coins minted by Australian mints are not limited to gold. In fact, a very popular Australian silver coin is the Australian Silver Lunar Coin, which features—like it’s Gold counterpart—an animal from the ancient Chinese calendar associated with the year the coin is minted.
